Christmas is in the air... even if there is no christmas tree and hardly any snow here at my parent`s place, and though Christmas today is not equal what it was like in childhood memories, I`m looking forward to delicious food, cookies, some family time and a little time-out from everyday life. Some Christmas cards to acquaintances, homemade tea mixes to best friends and kitchen tools for my parents - I didn`t spent too much on this year`s gifts, but anyway, the Nativity is not merely about giving and getting presents... However, before I dedicate myself to dinner and a comfy Christmas evening, I`ll squeal my personal 2012 Christmas song compilation that you surely won`t hear too often:

Shake Up Christmas - Train
"Shake it up, shake up the happiness
Wake it up, wake up the happiness
Come on y`all, it`s Christmas time..."

Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Death Cab For Cutie
"They`re singing Deck The Halls
But it`s not like Christmas at all
I remember when you were here
All the fun we had last year"

Christmas - Blues Traveler
"If it`s Chanukah or Kwanza
Solstice, harvest or December twenty-fifth
Peace on earth to everyone
And abundance to everyone you`re with"

Boots - The Killers
"I close my eyes
Think about the path I took
Just when I think these times
Have gotten the best of me"

Christmas Lights - Coldplay
"Those Christmas lights light up the street
Maybe they`ll bring her back to me
And then all my troubles will be gone
Oh, Christmas lights, keep shining on"

Have yourself a merry Xmas!
Happy holidays,

A long, long time ago I can still remember... how that music used to make me smile... well, I know there was kind of a very long blogpost 'holiday', but the sun finalle came out to play and now that I have the perfect soundtrack for all the USA-lovers and believers; here you go:

Hey there Delilah (by Plain White T`s), what`s it like in NYC? It`s not some California Dreaming (by  The Mama`s and Papa`s). It`s the Empire State of mind (by Alicia Keys ft. Jay-z). Piazza, New York Catcher (by Belle & Sebastian)... Drive by (by Train), American Boy (by Estelle ft. Kanye West)! Get out of my way, I`m coming into Los Angeles (by Arlo Guthrie)! And please, gimme hope Obama, not just all summer long (by Kid Rock)... American tune (by Paul Simon) all over this land (by Woody Guthrie) ♪♫

Happy listening!

Though I still missed out last week`s Tongue Twister Tuesday, I finally decided to keep up with some Tuesday Tunes... Today was such a wonderful day! First, I met one of my best friends (well, I don`t like to call someone the superlative of something, but she is kind of... a very very good reliable person to have lots of fun with ^^). We scarved some carrot and banana sculptures before we devoured them together with a bunch of chocolate biscuits, then sang along my ukulele playing and lay around to enjoy the pleasing sun beams. And second, the sun in the end  decided to come out and play... Anyway, it`s almost end of July and the sun`s ought to let the world shine bright ;)

Best conditions for today`s tunes that have the ability to grab you out of your rain-stricken depression...

I`m driving crazy (by Gnarls Barkley) - the sun has decided to come back again, out from somewhere over the rainbow (by Israel Kamakawiwo´ole) and oh, it`s sooo hot!!! 30° degree and all I do is to sweat (by Inner Circle)... For some people it`s the Rama Lama Ding Dong (by Racy), for others it`s the simple sound of the Bongo Bong (by Manu Chao). Certainly, Mambo No. 5 (by Lou Bega) is everybody`s favourite. You ask about the bare necessities?! Relax, take it easy (by Mika)! It`s the lazy song (by Bruno Mars) they play... Just don`t worry, be happy (by Bobby McFerrin)! I lie back into my deck chair and smile: I feel good (by James Brown). You should join in and try, too =D

Let the summer be back on the road again!

Got some time for a world tour? Well, then...
I couldn`t decide today, so there`ll be 12 songs this time ;)

It`s all about some big city life (by Mattafix)... A German tourist would probably say, "Ich war noch niemals in New York (by Sportfreunde Stiller ft. Udo Jürgens)". What about Amsterdam (by Fettes Brot)? Or Barcelona (by Freddy Mercury & Montserrat Caballé)? Betwixt and between. The city of love - "I`m throwing my arms around Paris (by Morrisey) right now!", shouts another tourist, while being stunned by the impressiveness of the Eiffeltower that was built in the era of industrialisation in the early 20th century. "Skandal im Sperrbezirk (by Spider Murphy Gang)!", another German, this time appalled, traveller (he presumably is not from Munich...) cries out. Well well, Rosie has a phone number and you can call her, if you want/need to... Anyway, don`t leave out the fake tales of San Francisco (by Arctic Monkeys). When you take a sight to the right - see that Berlin City Girl (by Culcha Candela)? Despite her hotness, we favour hot fudge, which means moving to L.A. (by Robbie Williams)... During a walk trough Hong Kong Garden (by Siouxsie And The Banshees), we look retrospectively at the good life (by One Republic) we actually have and after our quite exciting travel, we can proudly claim: I`ve been everywhere (by Jackie Leven)!

Hope, you enjoyed listening :)

Start the car (by Travis Tritt), a fast car (by Tracy Chapman) - a Mercedes Benz (by Janis Joplin) to be precise - and travel along the highway to hell (by AC/DC). Beep Beep (by The Playmates) is what my little Deuce Coupe (by The Beach Boys) usually sounds, but hey - WHAT!? You`re making love in a Subaru (by Damaskus)?! Life is a highway (by Rascal Flatts) and we`ve got no particular place to go (by Chuck Berry)... Can you see the wheel in the sky (by Journey)? Take care and never forget to bless the broken road (by Rascal Flatts)...

How about a musical tour through London?

Baker Street (by Gerry Rafferty) - the home of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson by the way - is the place where we start our trip. Typically, as we walk through the streets of London (by Ralph McTell) and across the River Thames (by Sir Elton John), it`s raining cats and dogs. All the umbrellas in London (by Peter Schmidt) cannot stop the rain, but maybe it`s because I`m a Londoner (by The Business) that we don`t really care about getting a little wet... In the Aftermath (by REM) we are passing Warwick Avenue (by Duffy). Time flies. I don`t want to go to Chelsea (by Elvis Costello), what about watching the Waterloo Sunset (by The Kinks)? With the moon rising we are able to hear werewolves of London (by Warren Zevon) howling. Puuh... that was quite an exciting city tour! After dropping in our beds we dream of LDN (by Lily Allen) as an animated city with lots of different facings. I ♥ London!

See ya next time in two weeks when it`s time again for some Tuesday Tunes!
